The Mitchell M. Tsai Law Firm, a public interest environmental law practice, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their expanding law firm.
COMPENSATION
Salary within the range of $95,000 to $150,000. The firm offers health insurance, 401(k), PTO / Sick Leave, CLE allowance, bar dues, and paid holidays. We require reasonable billable hours requirement (1,600 hours).
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Working in collaboration with the Principal Attorney, the Associate Attorney will advise and represent clients in environmental and land use litigation. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Representing clients in complex civil litigation cases involving the full range of litigation tasks;
· Communicating with citizen-groups, environmental groups, non-profits and associations to develop cases and creative legal strategies;
· Collaborate in team problem solving, litigation strategy, project management and trial work;
· Contributing to a positive, respectful, supportive, hard-working, entrepreneurial, and collegial work environment; and
· Participating in professional training, development and networking opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· J.D. Degree from American Bar Association accredited law school;
· Active license to practice law in the State of California;
· Litigation skills, including legal research, writing, analysis, and oral advocacy. Ability to manage a case from beginning to end independently and a litigation docket with numerous tasks and deadlines.
· Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with clients, partners, and co-workers;
· Demonstrates initiative, good judgment, creativity, flexibility, work ethic, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a dynamic legal team.
· Willingness and ability to work in-person in Pasadena, California (although remote applicants will be considered) and to travel statewide as needed for courts appearances and meetings;
· Familiarity with Administrative Law, federal, state and local Environmental Law, including the National Environmental Policy Act, California Environmental Quality Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and the State Planning & Zoning Law, as well as federal and state civil procedure and rules of court.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Westlaw.
