Jeremy Herwitt

Associate Attorney

Jeremy Herwitt is an Associate with our Firm, where he counsels individuals and entities engaged in land use and environmental disputes. Jeremy also has extensive prior experience practicing in business litigation and employment law, including serving as lead and second chair counsel at jury trials and arbitrations.

Jeremy’s exposure to environmental science coursework during his formative high school years was a life-altering experience that set him on a path to pursuing a career in environmental law. With a deep interest in the ocean and marine life that began at an early age, Jeremy earned his undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. His studies broadened his view of environmental impacts and ecological field research in the marine environment. The ecological challenges that he witnessed firsthand inspired him to seek a career where he could contribute his scientific knowledge and understanding to shaping decisions and enforcing policies affecting those natural systems. His decision to pursue a law degree emanated naturally from that ambition.

Jeremy obtained his Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, where he served as the president of the school’s Environmental Law Society and worked as a student attorney in Washington University’s nationally-recognized Interdisciplinary Environmental Law Clinic – a pro bono program representing and advocating for local community groups in an array of environmental matters. As a law student, Jeremy also worked as a law clerk for the Environment Section of the California Department of Justice, where he gained experience in matters brought under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act.

Jeremy is licensed to practice in state and federal courts in the state of California. He is also proficient in Spanish.

In his free time, Jeremy enjoys backpacking, alpine skiing, coaching youth sports, traveling with his family, and eating treacherously spicy foods.
